This Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") explains how we collect, use, process, disclose, and protect your personal information, including sensitive health data, when you engage with our App and related services. 1. Information We Collect

Calove collects personal and health data from you directly, automatically through your use of the App, and from third-party integrations or services. We are committed to only collecting information necessary to provide and optimize our services.

  • Account & Profile Information:

    ● Login via Google or Apple account (we collect: email address, display name, profile picture/avatar)

    ● Gender, height, weight, date of birth (for personalized health algorithms)

    ● Country of residence (approximate location)

  • Health & Activity Data

    ● Diet, food logs, meal photos, and barcode scans of products

    ● Uploaded images (e.g., food items, nutrition facts labels)

    ● Custom goals, routines, wellness tasks

    ● Journal and diary entries (including free-text notes)

  • Apple Health Integration

    ● With your explicit authorization, the App may access data such as steps, activity metrics, sleep data, and hydration tracked in Apple Health

  • Data Collected Automatically

    ● Device information: device model, operating system version, app version, unique device identifiers, and time zone

    ● Engagement and usage analytics: feature usage frequency, event logs, crash reports

    ● General location (country-level inference from device/IP)

  • Data from Third Parties

    ● Apple Health: After your consent, we sync relevant health data. Your Apple Health data is never used for advertising or provided to advertisers.

    ● API/SDK Partners: For core App functions, Calove integrates with third-party providers (such as OpenAI for conversational AI, Passio for image/food recognition).

    ● These partners only receive the minimal necessary data for feature implementation and are contractually required to protect your information.

  • Data from Third Parties

    ● Apple Health: After your consent, we sync relevant health data. Your Apple Health data is never used for advertising or provided to advertisers.

    ● We may aggregate, de-identify, or anonymize data so that it can no longer reasonably be used to identify you, for statistical analysis, trend reporting, and business planning.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and Operate Services:
    1. To create and manage your account, authenticate login, power the virtual companion, support your habit and health tracking, and generate personalized fitness/nutrition plans. 2. To administer and enhance our AI Assistant(s) and reward systems
  • Analyze and Improve Product:
    To monitor performance, understanding feature usage, troubleshoot issues, and enhance the App based on usage patterns.
  • Communicate with You:
    1. To respond to inquiries, technical support requests, and provide customer service. 2. To notify you of important changes to our Terms or this Privacy Policy.
  • Research and Development:
    1. To administer surveys and feedback, test new features, and support product research.
  • Legal and Regulatory:
    1. To comply with applicable legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect the rights, property, or safety of Calove users and the public.
  • Sensitive Data Use:
    1. Your sensitive health data is only used to provide core functionality (personalized advice, progress tracking, recommendations) and is never used for advertising, nor sold or disclosed for marketing purposes
  • With Your Consent:
    1. Where legally required, data will be used for the purposes you specifically consent to (e.g., marketing emails, research participation).

3. How We Disclose Your Information

We do not sell your data. We share your personal information only as described below and only for necessary purposes.

  • Service Providers & API Partners

    ● Cloud hosting, analytics, and maintenance (e.g., AWS or similar providers for encrypted storage)

    ● Integrated SDK/API partners (e.g., OpenAI, Passio) to power specific features with no excessive sharing of personal data.

  • Legal Authorities & Compliances

    ● As required by law or when necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Calove, our users, or others

    ● In response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., court orders, subpoenas)

  • Business Transfers

    ● In the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction, consistent with this Policy

Calove aims to minimize tracking and does not use cookies or tracking for advertising. We employ necessary and functional tracking for:

  • Feature analytics (e.g., app usage, crash reporting)
  • Improving user experience:
    We use essential local storage and analytics SDKs (from select partners) to deliver features. You can adjust analytics tracking preferences in the App's privacy settings; disabling some may impact product quality

5. Data Security

Your privacy and data security are paramount:

  • Data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS) and at rest (industry-standard encryption protocols)
  • Access to your information is limited to authorized staff on a need-to-know basis and subject to strict contractual obligations of confidentiality
  • Routine security audits, monitoring, and incident response procedures are in place
  • You should protect your device and login credentials and alert us of any suspected unauthorized access

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy (unless longer retention is required by law):

  • Account and health data: Retained for your active account's duration
  • Account deletion: Upon request or through in-app account deletion, we irrevocably delete all personal and health data typically within 7 business days, with minimal backup/log retention to fulfill regulatory or security requirements

7. International Data Transfers

Calove stores data with globally distributed cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud)

  • Your data may be transferred and processed outside your country of residence, including countries that may have different data protection laws
  • We use legal safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) as required by GDPR or other relevant laws to protect your data

8. User Generated Content

  • Calove offers features for logging meals, progress, goals, and personal notes.
  • By default, your entries are private. If you choose to share content with others (e.g., to a community, with friends), you control who sees it.
  • Please only share content you are comfortable making public.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights concerning your personal information:

  • Right to Access: You may request a copy of your data or information about our processing activities.
  • Right to Correction: You may correct inaccurate or incomplete information from within the App.
  • Right to Deletion: You may delete your account and associated data at any time, either in the App or by contacting support.
  • Right to Portability: We provide your data in a commonly used electronic format upon request.
  • Right to Restrict or Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw consent for data processing (e.g., Apple Health) at any time in settings.
  • Right to Object: You may object to processing for certain reasons (subject to applicable law)
  • Right Not to be Subject to Automated Decisions: You are protected against decisions based solely on automated processing.
  • Right to Opt-In/Opt-Out of Sensitive Data Processing: We only process sensitive health data with your explicit consent.
  • How to Exercise Your Rights:

10. Children's Privacy

  • Calove is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 13.
  • If we become aware we have inadvertently collected such data, we will immediately delete it. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us promptly

11. Jurisdiction-specific Rights

  • European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)

    ● Calove complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent laws.

    ● We process your data based on the necessity to provide our services (contractual obligation), your consent, or our legitimate interests.
